Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about shipping timelines, inspections, pickup, and delivery in Haiti.

Timelines vary and are not guaranteed. As of 2025, containers that previously cleared in under 30 days can take 3+ months, largely due to increased volume and extended verification at the Cap-Haïtien port. The longest delays typically occur during port verification/inspection, which is managed by Haitian port and customs authorities.

We can coordinate delivery, but we do not guarantee delivery availability in every city at all times. VSI does not operate in-house delivery trucks or employee drivers. Instead, we coordinate delivery through third-party local drivers.

Delivery pricing depends on the number of items and destination city. Customers may pay the delivery fee in the U.S. or Haiti. Delivery must be prepaid before items are released. Once confirmed, we arrange loading and delivery with local drivers and pay them for the service.

No. We do not guarantee in-home delivery. Some neighborhoods are not accessible by truck due to road access, safety conditions, or other operational limitations. For example, in Port-au-Prince, drop-offs are commonly made in the Tabarre area for customers to retrieve items. Final drop-off locations may change based on conditions at the time of delivery.

Yes. You may pick up items at our warehouse after the container clears verification and items are processed. We will share pickup instructions when your items are ready.

Possibly. All shipments are subject to inspection by Haitian customs/port authorities, and some boxes may be opened during verification. We do not control inspection decisions. Where possible, we reseal packages after inspection. Damage to boxes resulting from inspection is not reimbursable.

Yes. Certain items are prohibited or restricted. Shipping prohibited items can result in confiscation, legal consequences, and additional fees passed to the customer. Please review our Shipping Policy before shipping.

50% of payment is due at pickup (or before shipping). The remaining payment is due once the container is verified. After arrival at the warehouse in Haiti, customers have 3 days to pick up items before storage fees will apply. Storage fees depend on size and quantity.
